Focal 100 KRS vs ISN100 Speakers
Has anyone done a back to back sound test of these Focal speakers? I am going to upgrade the speakers in my 90 Defender Adventure, I would like to keep it looking OEM, so my preference is the ISN100 with standard grills fitted, but if the 100KRS sound better, I'll fit those unless anyone can suggest anything better.

I have just fitted the OEM sub that improves the sound, but the in dash speakers need to be upgraded.

I purchased the sub from Land Rover and asked a local car hifi installer to fit it for me. The installation looks OEM, the install took about an hour and a half. The installer had to make up a loom for the sub as LR don't sell one.

If you live in Kent, send me a PM and I'll give you his details, the installer comes to you.

Strange how we all get different stories.. My Dealer initially said that he couldn't get the Factory Sub Unit, But could get the wiring for it minus the RCA lead?... However I phoned around and managed to get the subunit and bracket (Delivered to the Dealer)... So Hopefully when I FINALLY GET HOME AND COLLECT THE BOWLER, I will have a sub unit fitted, wired and working...
However, Let's see eh..

TIm It doesn't matter how bad it is, It can always get worse...

You can get the LR RCA lead, but it has a multi-plug on one end that plugs into the cabin harness of the Defender. Same with the Sub, it plugs into the cabin harness. As our cars didn't come with a sub the female sockets are not in place to plug the sub and RCA lead into. There are not any RCA sockets in the factory sub, only in the Alpine head unit.

If you have the full set from your dealer, you should have the sub, a metal plate that goes inside the cubby to strengthen it and 4 nuts as the factory sub has the bolts already fitted.

It is worth the hassle to get this right, the sub does make a difference, however, the dashboard speakers need an upgrade too.

Good luck!

Either of the focal units will make a huge difference over the Oem kit and will compliment the sub nicely.

I have the 100krs and they sound really good sharp and punchy I would recommend going and listening to both as the softer sound on the isn may be preferred.

You won't go wrong with either

The KRS are a far superior product, and will also work better with an amp should you decide to add on later. With a bit of fetterling you could get the original covers to fit. In all honesty you don't really notice the grills, they are plain with a small focal decal.
