Never really thought about it. But yes!

Although the folds in a paper filter mean it has loads more surface area than a flat piece of the same material. So you could achieve the same level of filtration with higher flow if you had more folds, and thus more surface area

Stock size Intercooler or full width ??

I would go the full width intercooler, slots in between the radiator and front grill with no problems, i got one on mine, its made a big difference Thumbs Up

How does it plumb up?? Same place as the original or do you need to run different hoses??

Same as the other hoses, as long as you get an intercooler for the 300tdi only, not the ones you see for sale as 200/300 tdi, they need slightly different hose work due to the different angle on the intercooler where the hose connects to, you can see this if you go on the Alisport website, hope this helps.
