New Years laning trip.
A bunch of friends came up from my old county of Cornwall, to sample some more of the finest lanes in this area. So I put a little video together, which I thought you guys might enjoy... Had to be very careful not to damage my 110 on Censored lane, I think a set of proper rock sliders may be replacing the Tomb Raider side steps soon Thumbs Up Laughing

Good bit of 'wheel waggling' by the Hilux, and a very well put together video. When I was a boy it was Suzuki SJs that most of us had, some of the guys with a bit more cash had Landys. We had some excellent fun in ours, this takes me back to the 'good old days' when we were invincible and safety was a very distant concern in our off roading. I have a load of old stuff on VHS somewhere, I always meant to try and retrieve it. Keep enjoying your off roading, and keep posting the videos - thanks for sharing.

Some cracking lanes there, are you going to do the trip in reverse later in the summer? Going up the, politically called the Machynlleth Loop or Horseshoe, is a lot more testing Whistle Now that the Sheepdip has been filled in at Bucknell it has taken a lot of the drama out of the lane but it's stopped a lot of the off piste activity.
We have so many great lanes on our doorstep and it's great to see them being used properly and with enjoyment.
As an aside, the LRM comic did a few at Rhayader then onto Strata Florida and Soar y Mynnd a month or so ago and they're in the latest edition(February) and next months copy will be on their next days laning taking in the Censored and a few others.

you know those steps that looked like they nearly flipped the vehicles over when the brakes were anchored on, would it have made any difference if they just trickled down in 1st? Would that have been too fast? Gone horribly wrong?

Ooh, naughty naughty! People riding in the pick-up bed, not on seats and not wearing seatbelts on a public ROW!

Looks fun though!

Might do chap, they want to do a trip in Summertime next, since past 2 trips were this time of year. We had planned a summer one but that went t1ts up when work sent me on a course!
I have done the Machynlleth Loop 'up' in my old Td5 90, definitely more challenging. Very Happy And yes agreed with Sheepdip. Pheasant Pen Steps has been graded too, so that challenge has gone Sad makes it more accessible to lesser vehicles though Laughing

Yes, it probably would have been worse. It was a case of easing things down this time. The Hilux was a beginner to offroad driving, gave him a baptism of fire with that one!! So he may have been a little too sharp onto the brakes, but then again the springs don't have much flex in them so it was just teetering on 2 most of the time! Pete

Thank you for sharing.

Still have a 2008 Hilux - together now with Landy.

Wishing there was that super uncomplicated electric/solenoid difflock available for the Puma. Whistle
