I have fond memories of Hilarys from 2001-02. Working in Freo and short spell with RFDS. It's a lovely bit of the world. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

I agree with you entirely & we have never found a better part of the world in all of our travels. Thought you might like the view over the top of the harbour wall: Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Lol!...We were up on M.I. last year for a couple of weeks, Horseshoe Bay, right on the water, and YES, the Series 1 is still there, complete with winch, all the locals know it, but some haven't seen it move, we didn't,...it was always parked in the same spot when we were there! Pickles. |

Great topic, shows best what owning a Defender is all about.
The Pyrenees are looking great amondeggs. They're on the list for this year although I didn't expect them to look this spectacular. Went to Iceland last July. Some of these have already featured in the post about Antares in 'My Defender', but they fit only too well here, so I almost feel obliged to post them again.... Here's a shot of a Swiss Land Rover that we encountered a couple of times. This is road 53 on the Faroe Islands, a dead-end road to the village of Saksun: Click image to enlarge Still along road 53: Click image to enlarge Once we arrived in Iceland, there was much more snow than usual. This is a Dutch Defender halfway between Sey∂isför∂ur and Egilssta∂ir: Click image to enlarge Antares on the start of the F905 near Mo∂ru∂alur: Click image to enlarge and a close-up. Always been fond of this picture; it remembers me of the excitement of having a great road ahead: Click image to enlarge This is a nearby view of Her∂ubrei∂, Icelands favourite mountain, two years earlier. Let's just pretend that the dust cloud in the distance is from a Land Rover. Whatever it is, it's on road 88: Click image to enlarge Along the Holuhraun lava field toward Kverkfjöll, I think it's the F905: Click image to enlarge Same stretch: Click image to enlarge campsite near Askja: Click image to enlarge Finally some shots in Belgium. Antares on a brownfield near Antwerp: Click image to enlarge The LROCB organised a Defender Celebration gathering at the coast in September. Here the defenders are not as much part of the scenery as much as they are the landscape in itself. Seeing them arrive from the distance gave me the chills: Click image to enlarge To end a picture which is allmost off topic, but can't resist: Click image to enlarge That's all afraid. Need to travel more asap! |
