Ireland 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Santorini Black
I agree Spudfan, I was upset a couple of years ago when the end was announced. I now think it is great, as in enough is enough The fact that they still are not built to any sort of quality it is time to say good bye. I very very nearly bought a 72k adventure but to be honest I could not take the battle again and defo not at the price. The quality was worse than ever, carpets not even stuck down, creased and bubbling leather. Dirt under the paint. You can only guess what short cuts were taken under the bonnet.

So I have bought a 90 base spec, to go with my 110. I doubt you could buy another car in Ireland that does not come with a radio, LR must save about £10.00 on this, I think this just sums up the whole experience. They really now khow to treat customers!!

So we all should be happy in our madness that we have the worst value for money car in the world and in my case 2.
The men in the white coats will be along shortly to take me away.

On the upside I was recently offered in a car park exactly what I paid for my 110 by a chap who was desperate to buy it. Thats zero depreciation in well over four years. Now how many cars would achieve that ? Says it all really

If he's still looking for a Defender He can have my 2011 7 seater with 38,000 kms on the clock. Religously pampered and serviced and sadly not getting much use. We'll still have the 2008 Puma 7 seater and the recently rebuilt series 111 so I'll still be in the family. Oh and when 2022 comes along I'll be able to put the 200 tdi 110 back on the road as "vintage". Always nice to plan ahead Mr. Green 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Like you I did wonder about the lack of a radio - then again, that is one less, cheaply sourced component to fail!

Will the Irish be holding a traditional wake when production finally ceases? Conceptually a more interesting thought than simply mourning?

That would be a great excuse for a party Cuthbert if only there were more Defenders on the road here. Discos and Range Rovers aplenty but mostly Jap wagons. I am always told ' great looking jeep' ( generic for all things 4x4 in Ireland) but Defenders are regarded as an unusual, maybe eccentric choice by most.
