Here's the details:
http://www.whelen.com/pb/Automotive/Produc..._Light.pdf They're good. I have both the Whelen and the Labcraft. Whelen have been going for donkeys years and produce 90% of emergency services vehicle lighting. Their kit is tough and long lasting. I use it on emergency response vehicles. The Whelen model is RRP £50 plus VAT. It's £32.50 at the moment. |

Fab Mike thanks -so with your experience of these is one mounted centrally above the rear door going to provide a reasonable amount of light as a worklight ? I ask as I have seen various pictures of Defenders with two scenelites one mounted, essentially, at each rear corner. To be honest I'd rather just have the one light centrally mounted.
Sorry for all the questions but as I said personal experience of this kit invaluable. I am grateful for your time G |

I have the S17 ( I think ) fitted to the rear of the 90. I didn't bother removing the window washer to fit the light centrally, I just offset the light and it works absolutely fine. With one light fitted it casts an excellent light behind the vehicle, I can only imagine that two will be like daylight.
The pic is from a post I done at the time, it's just switched through an older style Carling switch. Click image to enlarge |

I have the S17. It's very bright, more than adequate for working at the back of the 110.

One of these lift would be sufficient on the rear of your vehicle. 1000 lumens is plenty bright enough. I had a Labcraft Scenelight mounted centrally and relocated the washer jet to one side. As you can see already the light is just as effective mounted to one side. Personal preference really. If happily use the Whelen one over the Labcraft one, which was about £100 when I bought it.

OP, plenty of info and pictures of various Scenelite installations and light output in below thread. Personally I have one S17 centrally installed and that is plenty for my needs.
Eric http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic32834-45.html You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw Last edited by ericvv on 28th Dec 2015 3:15pm. Thanks Eric, I had seen that post which is what prompted my question about one light or two. It was going to get expensive if two lamps were needed
That's a very tidy rig you have there. Looks fab. HNY, G |

If you're not putting it in the middle, mount it on the side away from the door hinges. That way when you're working with the rear door open it's casting a more useful spread of light and it's not all behind the door.

Good point thanks. I think I've decided on one Whelen PEL mounted centrally - I don't have a wash-wipe to fret about ☺
Talking about not having things to worry about does anyone know when the purple socket lead RHS rear appeared on the loom. I don't seem to have one on my 93 MY 90. It's hard to say because at some point the car has been re-sprayed and all the loom coming into the vehicle in the RHS rear got covered in overspray but I do know there are no "spare" unconnected plugs. Thanks again, G |
