Prince Charles' Old Clothes
Interesting article on mens' attachment to old clothes. I have no doubt that we Defender owners are great fans of keeping a favourite jacket, boots, jumper etc. So go on, what's your oldest and can it beat Prince Charles' spectacular jacket below? Mine is my first Barbour, given to me by my old man in Christmas 1989. He bought it deliberately oversized, so despite being battered and having a lot of DIY repairs/re-waxes, it still fits and is still used yearly back in the UK when I join him for shooting Thumbs Up

Okay, tee shirts from Gap when they first opened locally which was around 1987/88 and a patched pair of Gap jeans from the same era. However, I can go one better than that - I'm still wearing an overcoat of my Dad's which he bought some time in the early 1950's, it's very warm, all I need now is some cold weather to justify putting it on.

I too have an old Barbour jacket which I love holes and all.

The wife then bought me a new one about 15 years ago which I only wear for best Laughing

My 20+ year old wax jacket was finally put on the Guy this year and consigned to the bonfire, a very sad day!

Now looking for a new wax jacket but they look so terrible new until they are nicely worn!!

Use the sniper technique for their gillie suits. Rub it all over in animal scent (excrement, pelts, blood etc) and then bury it, damp, underground. That will sort out the new look and smell in short shrift. Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

Mines a Barbour Westmorland waxed sleeveless jacket bought when I was 18 and a Mark Phillips when I was 21, now 50! And still going strong,,,,( probably because I'm too portly to wear them much these days)

My kilt was my father's bought just after the war for his 21st on 18 May 1946, and one of my handkerchiefs was my mother's from when she was at school during the war. Both used regularly as is an old terry nappy of mine though now used just as a towel, you'll be pleased to hear. I was born in October 1960 by the way.

If I widen this to shoes not just clothes...

I have several pairs of DMs...but in truth I still don't need any beyond my original pair circa 1981... Exclamation
