BTW, for those of you talking of luxury watches and 'one day' it might be sooner than you think. Obviously brand new might costs thousands but you'd be surprised what big name brands you'll find at watch auctions. Especially the older varieties.

http://www.bonhams.com/departments/WCH/#/M...e&m1=1

All my basic watches were new, but of my luxury watches only the 10 years anniversary Present from my wife was new. The others were all auction bought or else from companies such as the one below where you can buy pre-owned but unused (or used 10/10) normally less than list. Unless it's a really special present, or you know your stuff and that the watch will actually gain value, never buy new. If you have to, consider the multitude of Interest free offers where your down payment might only be a couple of hundred quid and you can spread the cost over 3-4 years. Go on, treat yourself... Thumbs Up

My next luxury watch will be the following....

I like the cut of your gib, sir, with the risk of being rude, I now have this on my wish list

And why not? Very Happy Monsieur Le Grenadier

That's great to see
My Omega Seamaster Pro back 12 years ago was about £1800
To see them now at double means you'd always get your money back if you had to get rid of Px for a new one.
I wouldn't sell mine but nice to know. Thumbs Up

You sod, that's two more to my already very long dream list. Have already started with Cartier Pasha, Cartier Santos, Cartier Men's Tank, Rolex Explorer II, Panerai GMT and next on the list will be a Sea Dweller. But then this lot would be snapped up when I win Euromillions next week.

OK I'm a watch freak as well:

Granddads Omega circa 1930's:

Breitling Emergency:

Breitling Super Ocean, good for 3300ft, Snorkeling/diving watch:

Chophard Mille Miglia birthday pressy from the wife 20 years ago & still maybe my favourite. The strap is made from rubber off the actual tyres raced in the Mille Miglia.

Another favourite & daily wear is this Citizen Eco Drive - no battery as solar powered, radio controlled so makes its own time changes, but sadly only in the Northern hemisphere. Still works well in WA & has kept excellent time the past 12 months.

So to the OP I would recommend Citizen Eco Drive & Suunto or any of the watches that have been posted in this thread. If possible get all of them, it is like Land Rovers you can never have too many!

Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Mr. Green
