defender tdci fuel filter draining
hi all,
I am just knocking off the last bits of my oil service on 2.4 tdci defender. Any advice welcome on whether or not to drain fuel filter as i have heard that A. you may get air in system. B. The drain valve on the filter may break or leak afterwards. The defender is running fine and i dont want a load of agro over christmas should i leave well alone and sign the service off? cheers and merry christmas to all. Rob

Personally I'd leave it alone or change the filter. Confused I started with nothing and still have most of it left!

No heard of them letting air in? Is that really the case? I've drained mine on a regular basis? But I may have air in the system and not know?

I drain mine on a regular basis, every 2nd week, never had a problem with air in the system or the drain leaking afterwards.

Just don't completely drain the filter, or over tighten the drain valve.

Mine's a 2.4, I find that draining it into a clear jar, you can see when the fuel is clear. Generally when first opening the drain till it's clear is only a small amount. Unless you've got some serious diesel snot.
