For day to day rough and ready wear I still use the one my parents bought me for my 21st birthday present many moons ago. How boring is that. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

A watch has got to have good old-fashioned hands for me too - my current desire would be an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, maybe the GMT, rubber strap, not too bling (kind of)... http://www.omegawatches.com/watches/seamas...t-edition/
One day maybe! Used to have an Oris automatic divers, which are very nice Swiss watches for the money. But for now I have Victorinox Divers watch, just quartz, but their range is good and chunky and not too expensive to worry about. Had it 7 or 8 years now, rubber strap needs replacing but looks great otherwise (essential sapphire crystal glass). The Dive Master or Maverick are great if you like a chunky divers: http://www.victorinoxwatches.com/en/ If I ever find myself in a position to afford a nice automatic again, I think I'd still wear a Victorinox as a 'beater'. Great watch blog, for the watch enthusiast - gets updated daily, the exotic, weird, vulgar, everything: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/ |

So we've now established I'm the forum watch pauper
Can't afford luxery. Just need a watch that will take the abuse that I dish out. My current watch, needs new battery, strap pins as both are bent, a new screen as it's heavily scratched and the bezel no longer rotates. So it's cheaper to buy a new watch. This watch has all the bits that I need so will replace with the new version. QUite liking the blue accents. To be fair my current watch hasn't faired that badley. It's been to Morroco twice and tramped around the desert there, various offroad jaunts around the UK and Europe and twice to Afghan. So it can now have it's well earned retirement 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |

Nice to see a new independent Brit mark. They're obviously still young as many of the styles are similar to other brands, a dash of IWC, a sprinkle of Luminox etc etc. But I'll certainly keep an eye. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

BTW, for those of you talking of luxury watches and 'one day' it might be sooner than you think. Obviously brand new might costs thousands but you'd be surprised what big name brands you'll find at watch auctions. Especially the older varieties.
http://www.bonhams.com/departments/WCH/#/M...e&m1=1 All my basic watches were new, but of my luxury watches only the 10 years anniversary Present from my wife was new. The others were all auction bought or else from companies such as the one below where you can buy pre-owned but unused (or used 10/10) normally less than list. Unless it's a really special present, or you know your stuff and that the watch will actually gain value, never buy new. If you have to, consider the multitude of Interest free offers where your down payment might only be a couple of hundred quid and you can spread the cost over 3-4 years. Go on, treat yourself... http://www.watches.co.uk http://www.watches-of-switzerland.co.uk/interest-free-credit/ My next luxury watch will be the following.... Go Suunto for the same money. Much better, from a watch specialist and far more unique.... Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Walfy. Go Luminox for pure robustness or if avoiding that Military look for when away from the combats, Suunto. My first, Vector, lasted the last few years of my time in the Army, followed by 7 years skiing, biking, climbing, and getting in the Alps, worn almost every day without fault. Not bad for £170. I have mine a decade, doesn't look too bad does it? They've been discontinued this year, so you might even bag a bargain. http://www.suunto.com/en-GB/sports-watch-c...ollection/ Click image to enlarge Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Just checked out the Nite watches, like the offset crown. Just sent link to the Missus maybe she will ask Santa for me. Sub £1k for an auto is good. I keep thinking I'd like to treat myself to a 1950's or 60's Omega Seamaster.

Seems I'm not the only one that likes Omegas
I'm looking again now, its still a lot of money though..... At the other end of the scale I quite like the G shock ones. Which for the sports I do would make good sense, |
