To buy or not to buy - help !
08 110 xs 37k LR dealer

Hi again
I had a thorough test drive yesterday and as I've said before I'm most grateful to everyone for all the tips on what to look out for. Funnily enough all the usual stuff seemed fine - the vac pump was bone dry, no clutch rattles etc.

Underneath the rear diff has a slow (old) leak at the flange, the transfer case has a fast (new ) leak and while all the prop shaft grease nipples were present and correct (there are quite a few more than I thought) none of them had ever seen a grease gun.

The main problem was the engine. For a start the hose that comes out of the bottom of the turbo was oily (new turbo needed? - by the way its the most easily accessed I've ever seen on any car)
The engine started , idled and sounded very smooth when stationary. As soon as I started driving however it was as if an engine from a 20 year old builders van took over as at all speeds either accelerating or cruising there was a heavy constant rattle which only stopped if i lifted off the pedal. I have read similar posts which pointed towards dealer software patches, fuel rail valves or even just the EGR to address this but when you're driving along listening to that racket its hard not to come to the conclusion that the engine is knackered !

I would be very grateful if anyone could give me a steer on this. I have a few days grace before making a decision as the salesman I have been dealing with is on holiday so I wont be categorised Timewaster just yet!
thanks

Try another for comparison, don't buy it unless you are 100% happy or you'll regret it. Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

Express your concerns and ask them to get another one for you to try. You certainly are no time waster, you are looking after your investment. 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile
