supacat, no I didn't mean that values will rise immediately but a result like that will help residuals in the long term. Not by much perhaps but it'll all go towards "awareness" and cache of the Defender. It won't do any harm, put it that way.

They don't have Dinitrol down under. But they often use boiled linseed oil.... You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Personally, I'll be happy when all the final/limited edition/heritage fuss dies down and those only attracted by the cache of owning such a model have got bored and moved on to the latest must have item. Hopefully, their motor will go to a more discerning owner who likes it for what it is intrinsically is. I don't think of my defender having residuals, in the same way that my dog doesn't either. Back on Topic - a very good result for some nice charities , especially to the continental underbidder - did the auctioneer name check him at the end - Axel? |

Just got back. It was more of a party than an auction…! Everyone was plied with lots of champagne & canapés and we saw a good sprinkling of familiar faces such as Theo Paphitus, Richard Hammond, Joanna Lumley, Virginia McKenna, Nick Wilks, Tim Slessor, Afzal Khan …in fact I even saw Matt & Mitch from FCX Nice to meet you guys ..!
Click image to enlarge Although I personally thought it wasn't worth more than £165k, the final price of £400k actually seemed a bit low for all the effort (seriously they must've spent far more on the publicity and hosting the event!) The auctioneer had to squeeze the bidders for every last drop. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge All the same it was great to be there and see big hitters from JLR like Dr Ralf Speth and John Edwards mingling with the crowd. Outside was a bit of an eye opener with several Celebration Defenders parked in New Bond Street and at the back entrance no less than 20 Range Rovers including this special one. Click image to enlarge Well at least I got the hospitality from JLR that I didn't get from the dealer 2015 110 XS CSW Montalcino Red with Black Pack |

Great report! Thanks!
A neat bit of Defender 'history' to have been a part of. Agreed... the sale price seemed a bit 'low' given the hype/advertising etc... All to a good cause though... and it's at least coming to a sunny, dry, rust free country!!! YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

! Strewth... I have been sprung like a dingo with a foot in a schooner of 4X! Yes... the medical was to confirm I was of insane mind and body so my bid would be rejected... Fair dinkum, the quack was stuffing another 4n20 in his gob before I could say 'rack off'! YOLO... You Only Live Once... |
