Hear that a Swiss classic car collector is going to be on the phone that evening. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

For those who wish to peruse the auction catalogue it is available to download here. The catalogue has some fine images of the 2,000,000 Defender.
https://images1.bonhams.com/original?src=I...47-0-2.pdf Alternatively you can also read the catalogues in its ‘e’ form in your browser here https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/23247/ For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

I am confused....Browsing the Bonhams brochure for the Defender, on page 10 & 13 it shows the LR as RHD, on Page 17 it shows who I am assume to be Dr Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, fitting the VIN plate, dash topper pad and binnacle cover fitment.
But the LR appears to be LHD ? 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Rather than guess the buyer, how about guessing the price????
Personally I am sceptical about its value and will say £165k 2015 110 XS CSW Montalcino Red with Black Pack |

I think we will be surprised by the final hammer price, let’s face it when last week Ringo Star’s tatty three piece drum kit sold for $2.2m at auction anything is possible.
The other thing is it may be the 2,000,000 Defender but it will not be the very last. For me the very last Defender ever to be built coming off the assembly line would be worth more. But that will be in bits as they won't be able to line up all the components in the same place at the same time! YOLO... You Only Live Once...

Don't think Bonham's would be very interested if this truck would fetch only that kind of money. This also is going to be a very high level charity event with enormous publicity, and there should be other types of bidders than just individual well off classic car fans. I have heard estimates which will have 6 zeros, and that is all before the comma, and the first number is not necessarily a 1. Ideally it would be bought by some very wealthy individual, who in turn would then hand it over to the care of JLR on condition that they put it in their classic car collection and perfectly preserve it for eternity but on occasion show it to the public. Eric I have an original auction catalogue which comes with two entry tickets, still thinking to hop over to London for this event. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |
