Most used in my box is my very old Martingdale phase rotation tester still shows in Red Yellow Blue Black (You really don't want crane motors running backwards)
I really really need to get a Fluke rcd tester (test time and ma) and insulation tester. Huge money though unless anyone has a second hand one on here ????? If you want a cheap'n'cheerful scope you can do a lot worse than a DSO Nano. They're cheap and work well but are limited by only have one channel and a relatively low refresh rate of 1MHz. The DSO Quad does improve things but I haven't personally used one. |

Continuing the "what do the initials stand for" quiz theme, who knows the full name of a BNC connector?
It never ceases to amaze me how many professionals who work daily with these have no idea or a completely wrong idea what the initials stand for! |

Just a quick question for anyone that might know the answer. Got the AVO out yesterday to check a torch and couldn't get a full needle deflection when touching the probes together to check for continuity. The unit has a AA battery with one corroded terminal. Is this in the continuity circuit or should I be looking elsewhere for the issue? |

Many of the older Avos have a 'null' facility to zero the pointer when the probes are together. Did you try turning the screw below the dial to null it? If it still will not null you need a new battery. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Thanks - I'll try a new battery and some emery paper on the contacts
Adjusted the null dial to no effect. |

I bought this one recently, it has every feature one could think of in a Multimeter.. no complains so far.. and it's a bargain for the features it offers..
