For me, the forums will always reign supreme with knowledge and help.
FB is good for certain things, but that's about it. |

I have both.
FB is good to chat with friends or organize an event, but the "hard" help getting from the forums are invaluable better (in special if you use the search facility). Cheers Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |

Have never dabbled with Facebook or Twitter. Don't have a mobile phone or a GPS. I'm a member of this forum and the Australian Land Rover forum (AULRO). I do have an e-mail address. That's about as involved with cyberspace as I am. Oh, and today I was out and about in the series111. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I find FB is very good for quick answers. IE if you need to know how something comes apart etc. There always seems to be someone on there with the answer virtually straight away where Forums can take a while to get a response. I know people will say thats because its the wrong answer but its always worked for me.
As for using FB, i wouldn't put anything on there i wouldn't want the world to know. Keep in touch with mates all over the Country and also made contact with old friends in Canada and Tasmania (they emigrated) I think if you use it for your own good then its ok. |

I'm quite happy to stay well clear of Facebook (and Twitter). It's all to easy for trouble to occur even on these, the nicest of internet forums, let alone Facebook. I can't even stand the general look of it; just comes across as a scruffy mess of people's crappy photos and drivel.
The thing that really gets me, is that you can stand talking to someone, and they ask "Are you on Facebook?". No! I'm not, I'm standing right here in front of you! You have my phone number, you have my email address, and I'm here now... The WWW is a place in itself for the sharing of knowledge on all matters. A forum has a specific agendum for discussion, so adds value to that. Facebook has no focus, so there is no benefit beyond the internet itself, but in fact, it is worse, because the standard of information contained there is, generally, lower than the web as a whole.
