RAV4: oh bother!!
Just received this picture from the wife. She heard a clonk whilst driving home, didn't stop and said "it rattled all the way home".

Car has only done 20,000 miles. Looks like the rear shock mounting has come away. I can't see from the picture if it's sheared or lost a bolt??

Censored !!!

The car in front is a broken Whistle

Hopefully it will be a straight forward fixed, owned an 08 Hilux, Toyota's usually bulletproof and repairs don't cost a gazillion pounds at the dealers, like Land Rover Thumbs Up

Hopefully bolt lost. Cheers Simon

A few weeks ago I would have agreed but we seem to be having a run of bad luck with our two Rav's!

Looks a bit like some bolts / nuts gave came loose, bracket following suit.
Maybe incorrect torque used, no thread loc or nylon nuts. Or done thing similar.
Dampers / shockers always take a pounding.

In general (and I am preparing my flame suit) the ladies are not as observant when it comes to cars and noises and things.

My mum drove about in her Range Rover Sport and said it felt funny. She didn't bother to check or notice she had a flat tyre and she drove it so hard for so long the tyre almost shredded.

My missus said her car made a funny noise too. I'm not surprised, the NSF brake caliper was seized on! Plus half her wheelarch liner was snapped, hanging off and rattling about under the car....Women. Laughing 2016 D4 HSE

I completely agree! The conversation last night when I got back was "it's been making a banging noise on bumpy ground for a while". Of course that followed with "I did tell you!". That last part is the real problem, I don't listen!! Sometimes I hear noise but I couldn't recount to you what was said Rolling with laughter

It's filthy. We live in the midst of the moors and the roads are full of cack!

Had a look this morning and it looks like its got 4 bolt holes. Thankfully no sign of any failed welding!
Now all I've got to do is wait in all morning for the recovery truck!!

Car's....nothing but a major PITA!

Car now back at the main stealer.
They state that the rear shock mounting has sheared off which in turn has seized the wheel bearing????
Cost to fix.........£961.74 Big Cry
Oh and its not covered by the 5 year manufacturers warranty.
I feel a fight coming on! Neutral

How do they figure the damper mount shearing off has an adverse effect on the wheel bearings? Fishing, that's what that is. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

This is why I hate cars and main stealers. It's just every opportunity to make money from the unwitting public. With a multimillion (billion) pound car marque above the door they seem to think they can get away with anything.

My mum has driven a Toyota for years, she has a new one every 4-5 years, now if this had happened to her would she have simply gone "oh OK dear, here's some more of my money"? Yes, of course she would Big Cry and I expect that's true of a large number of people! Makes me bloody mad! Sad
