Rear Speaker Panel?
I noticed an aux power mod made to a members vehicle in another thread and was wondering if the rear speaker panel just below the small rear windows are available for TD5 model Defenders? There's just bare metal and the light assembly showing there on my wifes at the moment and i'd love to put something like this in to tidy it up a bit. Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to help.

You can get genuine one for the square arched td5 that come up occasionally on eBay or the puma ones can have the extra piece cut off to fit the square arches. Mud stuff sell them and have a pic of what to cut off on their site. Ray

Exactly what I did for mine.

I don't recall the part number but genuine parts ones for a van are cheaper than for a CSW for some reason, I think it was like £15 for them?

You have to remove the metal covers which protect the lighting wiring and then put the speaker trims in.

Easy to fit, there is a sticky somewhere for the installation of the rear socket. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

They are a genuine LR part so no point paying over the odds for them.

The cheapest ones are those made to fill the "step" in SW Puma Defenders.

The cheapest of the cheap ones are the non-speaker "blank" versions. You can cut a hole to fit speakers Wink

For a Td5, cut off the part which would fill the step. This is what I have done on my soft top (pre-Puma).

Part numbers

ERQ500180 - RH with speaker hole filled in - £8.71 inc VAT full LR retail price
ERQ500190 - LH with speaker hole filled in - £8.71 inc VAT full LR retail price
ERQ500120 - RH with speaker hole open - £15.50 inc VAT full LR retail price
ERQ500130 - RH with speaker hole open - £15.50 inc VAT full LR retail price

I'm sure Dan at Duckworth - duckworthparts - would be delighted to sell you some with the usual discount Mr. Green  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
