@TD5-Dan, I don't agree people without ethics should be banned from the site imo.

No I fully agree it wasn't the right thing to do in this instance and I can see why your annoyed. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the whole dibs thing although works most of the time isn't always followed by all members but if it's not going to be then they should just say that they will just sell to the first person at the door rather than making out you have done a deal and go back on it. The seller just needs to state that. I sold my Defender to a member on here and held it for him to be first to view for nearly a week because he had first dibs so it's not how I do business either. I stick by what I said in as much as unfortunately whilst you p**sed off there's nothing you can do now apart from stay on the hunt for another set which will turn up 2001 TD5 110 County Station Wagon - sold

Well for a start I didn't realise that if you were a new member of a forum you weren't intiteld to buy anything! Secondly I saw a lot of backwards and forwards, PM's etc on the thread so all I did was ask if they were still for sale. I've bought and sold lots of bits on different forums and have never come across this problem before. I didn't intend to upset anyone but got the impression the other guy had pulled out. I've sold stuff before when people say they're gonna turn up for it and don't so can understand the seller wanting the cash in hand. I've never heard of this dibs thing but will be sure to keep an eye out for it on here as I'm not here to upset anyone just a few parts and some knowledge. Peace

Regardless of any dispute with the seller, not sure why the buyer is in the wrong?
Saw an item, sent the seller a note asking if it was available, seller said it was so he bought it. I've sold a few bits and bobs where people have said they're interested and then dropped out. My take on it would be that it aint sold until it's sold and a deposit should be exchanged if you want to guarantee the item. |

God sake is this STILL going on, ok we get it you hoped you had the wheels but someone else came up with the cash first or bid higher then you, first dips is great but doesn't mean anything unless money has been transferred!
Sorry to but in but seeing this moaning thread and slagging match keep popping up is getting boring, everyone has said there peace, so get over it and look for the next bloody good deal, as these wheels were so cheap and could have been double that, but everyone misses out in life so I think this issue is done. Hope I have not offended anyone but its like a school yard and we are ment to be a forum of adults and there will be plenty of other members would agree! Thank you Stu P.S if there not sold could collect tomorrow and cash Waiting to hand over |

Dont get me wrong I agree in a gentleman's agreement (with people I know and have met before) but this is just getting boring and should be dealt with by both parties and not in public space. I know forums are like this and maybe I should not have bothered about posting on this post but someone must agree that there is alot of childish behaviour going on and should be between two parties ?
Anyway I'm out of this now so over to everyone to argue it out just my view on this matter |

Nobody's died, the earth's still turning, the sun will come up in the morning, like Stu says, we all should have bought them, to be honest I spotted them and thought they were a bargain - but also spotted that Martin 01 had put dibs on them so I left them for him, if I'd seen in the post that they were still available I would have sent a pm.
Nobody's fiddled anyone out of anything, it was just a misunderstanding, I would have given Martin 01 a bit longer to reply tbh, but that's just me, everyone's different. I've still got 4th dibs though. |

1st dibs fit under the dash, 2nd dibs fit behind the bumper, 3rd dibs (if your lucky enough to find 3rd) can go anywhere as long as they're hidden from view cos' they're very sought after, under the passenger seat in the battery box is favourite. |
