Gents,
I'd appreciate some opinions on wind deflectors as shown below please ; - http://www.paddockspares.com/da6078-wind-d...ender.html Has anyone fitted them, do you think they're worth getting, how do they attach and they look tinted, are they ?? Thanks Mark |

I had some, sold them on, they obscure your view - try before you buy

I have them one my 90. They work well and do deflect the wind.

Thanks Windowlicker, bpman and Steve,
The Climair ones look good and def an easy fit. Which ones did you have bpman and what obscured, was it the position or the colour if they were dark as I must admit I was a bit concerned about this as i'm 6'3" and find myself stooping now to see traffic lights if I forget to stop short ?? Which ones do you have Steve ?? Mark |

I had the climair ones, they had a slight tint but the main problem was they were at eye level as you look out of the side windows.. just my experience, I would not want you to waste your money. the 2nd row door ones work ok.

Like Steve I fitted some and took the useless things off the first journey as were where I wanted to see out.

I had the same ones as the link. Somebody gave them to me off this site. Very kind of them, suck them on with special doublesided tape.

I have the Climair ones on for about 6 yrs now, good quality and neater install than the Paddock ones. Climair just inserts between window and frame, but IRC the Paddock ones must glued on. I'm very pleased with them, I like to have the window open just a lttle, then they keep draft or rain outside. Cheers, Vincent

I too have the Climair deflectors as fitted by Urban Truck...
An easy fit, slight tint and do a good job for me without obscuring any view out...  Rog...

Don't understand why you need those in a Defender. When you open the windows there is no draught anyway. Even with my driver window fully open I don't sit in the wind, and neither the rear passengers, nor the front passenger complain about any draught either. And when it rains you can easily open any of the windows a few cm without having water dripping in, this in contrast with many modern streamlined cars. So don't see what good these plastics do.

Eric, that's very strange then, when I drive in the rain without deflectors and with the window a few cm open, the rain is sucked in... We must have a very different aerodynamic profile, may be it is my roofrack or maybe you driving much much faster in the SVX than I could in my 300 Tdi...

Vincent, I guess my SVX is more airtight then. Wind not having the possibility to enter via open window and flow out somewhere else again.
I am serious though, rain thanks to the old style gutter which is missing on many modern cars, or wind do really not enter via the front windows. Eric You never actually own a Defender. i have them on my 90 and a pair going on the 110 . infact i have had them on all my vehicles for the past 10 years or so . when i was a smoker it helped keeping the rain out
not smoked for 4 years now but i like them open a bit and they keep the rain at bay ...........i wouldn't be without them |
