wont start when facing uphil
Got a 2005 defender TD5 67000 miles owned for 5 years, been fine spot on couple of months ago fuel pump started making a load of noise had this replaced, since then failed to start any time and temperatures on first key turn always started first turn before. So then had new fuel filter housing still got same problem. Then had injector harness and rocker gasket. Since then if left on a hill for more than 5 mins wont start takes a good 20 turns to start like it is full of air. When it does go it drives a few yards then judders to a stop and then takes a lot to start again but when running spot on and loads of power no bother never misses a beat no miss fire. Then had new one way value to stop diesel going back still no difference anyone got any ideas. Confused

Injector seals and washers have probably gone (only fit genuine) you probably didn't need a fuel pump. Check the oil to see if it's risen at all or smells of diesel. Ray

That happened to me.

On a long journey the fuel pump began to scream but drove ok.

When I got it home I reversed a it in my drive as normal and had no issues starting etc but once I spun it round and parked it front up to do some checks. It wouldn't start!

Changed the seals and copper washers, primed and it started first time.

Hey,

My oil didn't rise but it was enough for air to get in!

I did it myself, took a couple of hours taking my time and following the instructions I found.

http://www.discovery2.co.uk/Injector%20Seals.html

I put a new harness in at the same time too.

Not an overly hard job really.

Where are you? 2006 Defender Double Cab- Zambezi Silver
