Intercooler on Defender 2.2 Standard vs Allisport
Hi guys,

swapped my standard Intercooler for the Allisport one this week and took the opportunity to make a before & after data log.
The log was recorded with the BAS log function in the App using the car's sensors:

First run Std Intercooler: 5 km Motorway at 110kph:
Intake air temp: 15C
Intake Air temp sensor 2: 44C (that's the sensor on the return air after passing through the IC)

Second run: Std Intercoooler: 5 km Motorway WOT (hit the limiter in 6th 160kph)
Intake air temp: 15C
Intake Air temp sensor 2: 54C

First run Allisport Intercooler: 5 km Motorway at 110kph:
Intake air temp: 16C
Intake Air temp sensor 2: 21C

Second run: Allisport Intercoooler: 5 km Motorway WOT (hit the limiter in 6th 160kph)
Intake air temp: 17C
Intake Air temp sensor 2: 22C

The numbers speak for themselves either in absolute values or in %, the bigger intercooler cools much better.

Done the same with a Disco 3 I had a while back Thumbs Up

Decat makes a massive difference to boost pressures building up, and intercooler makes a massive difference to boost temperatures, both of which help the engine perform to its best Thumbs Up

Useful stuff, thanks. Was also thinking or upgrading. Good to have a user's appraisal rather than marketing guff. Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

No offence, it's good data but rather limited; and far too small a sample to provide any meaningful conclusions.
