If its any help, my winch earth is direct back to the battery and therefore you shouldn't need to upgrade to the same mm2 cable for the battery earth.? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Hmm two different answers to be hounest Im leaning towards changing it to 50mm2
Hmm there isnt one coming off the same point of the gearbox to the chassis that the battery connects to !!! Hopefully got enough spare 50mm2 !!! |

They're hardly contradictory answers.
One has upgraded the earth by upgrading the link from the battery to the chassis, the other has upgraded it by running a bigger cable from the battery to the winch. Where do the earths from your winch and Anderson connector go? If you're taking them back to the battery then the current will be through those cables. If you're going back to the chassis, then it will be through the battery-chassis earth link. Depending on which the "main" earth path is for the heavy current draw item will determine whether you need to upgrade anything. |

Cupboard, Earths for the Winch will be going back to the Battery as for the Anderson's im not 100% sure yet. Anyways got some 50mm today and replaced the main battery to gearbox cable.
One thing I did notice is that she seemed to fire up a lot quicker instead of 2 - 3 seconds it was 1-2 and seemed more powerfull. Maybe just me thou. I couldnt find the Gearbox to chassis earth thou, Thinking of taking it from the same point as the battery on the gearbox then mount it to one of the Gearbox mount bolts on the chassis. |
