I agree with your thoughts and those of lambert.the.farmer However the trouble with conjecture and what we can do about the consciousness of these evil Islamic state terrorists is that we try and apply western ideology of what is right and wrong to their system of beliefs. The I.S. mind set, fanaticism and philosophy is so removed from western mind thinking that no parallel can be drawn. The ethos of these people is drawn from hatred and an unshakable belief that what they do is done both in the name and with the blessing of their god. That attitude cannot be destroyed nor can we in the west truly understand it. My heart goes out to the families of those who were so mercilessly killed on Friday by people who can only be described as evil and without a soul, and what saddens me is that we are powerless to stop such an atrocity happening again, all we can do is be vigilant and hope that our security forces gain intelligence to stop such an event occurring again. However as it is now known that at least two of the terrorist came over recently as migrants through Greece, then I despair because there is a good chance that such people are now living amongst us. ^agree totally and its a shocking wake up call
I feel thought that until "we" understand that "winning" one war and one minor squirmish in the 20th century doesn't give us the right to enforce democracy as a global panacea, we'll keep repeating the same mistakes that the last 70 years of armed conflicts have pretty much all ended badly for us. We've not completed the work on our last terrorist atrocities \ troubles on our own doorstep properly yet. Many in these countries we've endlessly meddled in are as fearful of good ole democracy and its disposal of their leaders / dictators as we are of radical Islam. But at least we're not alone, Russia has forgotten Afghan in the 80s too.... We can't "win" against those we don't choose to understand. |

Following the tragic events of the weekend, it was truly humbling to see the people gather, standing shoulder to shoulder outside Notra Dame last night as a sign to the world that we will not be defeated.

I booked the Eurotunnel last Thursday to go last Saturday to a place about 20miles the other side of Paris.
Couldn't believe the news when I got up on Saturday to get ready to go... Went anyway and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Came back yesterday afternoon. The Eurotunnel was madness. Was there for 2 hours before making it through the border checks. I feel very sorry for the people that have to go through things like that... 
To me it all has to do religion... None of it is any good! Fabio |
