Light upgrade
Hi all,

Just fitted some new bulbs to my truck and am very pleased with the result. Cant really look at the lights now with them on dipped . Believe it or not, they are new in Halfords and are the new superbright ones, which have not been around for long. At the moment, they are buy one get one free and are £18 each, so you get a pair for that. Very pleased with the results. Definitely brighter and whiter and slightly more blue light coming out now and more of it. I went from standard 55 plate bulbs (which I believe are better than the earlier TD5's anyway), so some of the earlier models should get a nice surprise.
I would recommend these as a good upgrade for the price, for those people not looking at spending a fortune on light upgrades, whilst they are on offer, especially as they only take 5 mins a side to change.
From memory the packaging was a purple colour and the number was 472, but check just in case.

Just upgraded mine but went down the HID route like Pete from BAS and at the same time changed the lenses to the Wipac clear as on the SVX. Wow what a differance they make Very Happy
Any upgrade from the std lights is a must Thumbs Up

I had Wipac clear form fitted to the v8 and may fit them to this one with uprated bulbs.

On the HID front - im still sure that HID retro fit kits are illegal now, only HIDs can be fitted to a new car as a factory option. Mike

Some of the bigger bulbs are illegal but people still fit them. I know several people that have done the same with no problems Thumbs Up

It's only a problem with HID if you get pulled by the law!. I went for new bulbs from Halfords. Did you have to adjust your headlight Landy nut as mine seem to angle to the stars to much, which was not the case with standard bulbs.

So it's not just Aberdeenshire! Was asking my brother why he had is fog lights on and all he could think of was that his headlights where crap (true, it is an MG ZR) and that it looked "cool"! I'm tempted to smash them in! Laughing Ben

The auto leveling is reasonably important aswell as they cause way more dazzel than fog lights, which have never bothered me. Mike

i have HID's on an audi estate and it failed its MOT as one of the washer things that pop up out of the front bumper was blocked ! Shocked

The "LAW" aparently states that they must have washers fitted.

The "LAW" states a lot of things and not many people adhere to these !

For instance doing 35 in a 30 zone is against the law. DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN

Yeah the DFT doc says what you need.

Problem always is you can be ok 100% every day, have an accident, get pulled etc etc and your done...end of. Mike

Agreed !

as much as i hate to do as i am told and be a law abiding citizen i have got to agree that if it does go wrong in an accident then you are stuffed.

imagine the scene "I couldn't see a thing Officer the headlights were blinding me" DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN
