Bought a new fuel cap and it has a tail.
Could someone tell me where the hole for this tail should be? If I'm not wrong this was added in 2012? We have so few Puma Defenders here so I can't just go and look at one. Brgds, Juha '96 300Tdi 90 '07 Puma 90 |

Have a look at the MudStuff fitting instructions here:-
http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/products/exterio...l-cap.html All it needs is a 6.5mm hole drilled into the filler recess and push the stud in to fit. Sandy |

Thank you both.
I'm a bit reluctant to drill any holes in sheet metal without knowing exact location. Clear now. Brgds, Juha '96 300Tdi 90 '07 Puma 90 |

Take a tip from me - cut the tail off the filler cap. When you undo the filler cap to fill up, it hangs down onto the bodywork and the key scratches your paintwork. I've removed the tail on mine and fitted a rubber grommet in the hole. I've also removed the cheap and nasty yellow Diesel sticker as well.

Why leave the key in the cap it does remove.

Good points "discomog", I need to have a brew before drilling this hole.
Wondering why Land Rover did this improvement? Perhaps this effort had been better if directed to something else. Brgds, Juha '96 300Tdi 90 '07 Puma 90 |

i used to lock my fuel cap, but thought if they wanted the fuel that much they would get it by just drilling a hole in the tank, id rather they just siphoned it out!

Does the current version have any anti-syphon mechanism to stop you taking fuel out of the tank from the filler neck?

I lock mine so that I have to take the keys out the ignition, prevents the scum from nicking the motor. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

You are spot on disco. So, when Gracie is refuelled, it takes both Wifey & I to do it. I unlock the cap, & she holds the cap until refuelling is done, after which she hands me back the cap which I replace & lock! There's no way I want a diesel impregnated cap dangling against Gracie's paintwork! Pickles. |

I cut the tail off when I got a replacement and I don't bother locking the cap as the lock has a habit of freezing in winter.
