my old goodwinch intall was a lot more work, we had to move the radiator and aircon back to fit the Alive intercooler in... and then cut and plastic weld the SVX grille. I just didnt want to go through this again, plus i find with the soft A bar the winch does not appear to stand out as much..

Yes and yes.
Had to go synthetic, not a fan of wire rope. Tirfors do have their uses but do expose the problems with wire rope! Isolator will be installed, probably on the passenger seat box. As this is where the two optima batteries are housed with the split charge system. Well Gents,
Winch installed Finishing Touch Autos did a excellent job as usual! Installed cut off switch on passenger side seat box. Mantec reg plate holder hides winch, which can only be a good thing these days. Looks great. Really has that standard look with the bumper caps.
Only thing missing is the optional rope protector plate for UV protection. It just clips in. Either solid or with slats. Any farther South and I'll need to trade the Defender in for a Landing Craft |

Your right ordered the solid protector but it would fit!
Installed the synthetic rope as per Warn instructions so will try again. It's a shame to hide your kit behind protectors and reg plates, but this is the world we live in! Cheers WYL 2015 90 Keeper 2005 R300 Keeper 2019 XC40 Shopping Trolley 2008 110 XS Utility (Friday Build) Gone! |

The protector plate is a little tricky to get onto the bottom clips. I used a screwdriver with a cloth over it and gently pushed it into place. took a couple of minutes or so of fiddling and cursing as the access is limited. Don't be afraid of prising a little against the bumper.
I think after a few on and off's it will click in much easier, the plastic will wear in. Looks fab in place, mine has the slats which is funny as I ordered solid How was your remote range on the 10S? My first controller was good for about two feet. Some of the controllers have a recall on them. The replacement Warn arranged to be sent from the US is great and I can walk a long way from the truck and control the winch now. Any farther South and I'll need to trade the Defender in for a Landing Craft |

I'm guessing you pre-loaded the rope when winding on? Any farther South and I'll need to trade the Defender in for a Landing Craft

Yes pre loaded the rope yesterday. Used the weight of the motor up a slight incline. Didn't have enough room for a single pull so used a pulley for the first half. Me thinks I may need to use a steeper hill and single pull to get enough tension!
As for the remote it was working fine from about 10m away? Cheers WYL 2015 90 Keeper 2005 R300 Keeper 2019 XC40 Shopping Trolley 2008 110 XS Utility (Friday Build) Gone! |
