I had the same Spot of bad luck two year ago, the outer wing unbolts you can remove the wing and replace with new one
get your self outer wing and the paint and have fun 
i had to do it out side in farm yard and the hole wing too  but you can not tell that it ever happen now 
have you pic of the bonnet

Civil claim against the cyclists for cost of professional repair? Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to  us off.

OK things might be different in France but do you get their name and address? How do you go in claiming against them, did they have any insurance/

I have done it in the UK and I agree about the insurance. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off.

The way it works in France is like this. Much as steam gives way to sail at sea, it's a case of motors give way to pedal power and that is about it. In this scenario the gendarmes were only really interested in confirming that the driver was not at fault and took no action against the cyclists despite the presence of eye witnesses. Before we get too excited about this (I did for a little while  ), I should say that my wife is French and a barrister... This is the normal way in which such incidents are dealt with - as a driver just be glad that you were innocent of any misdemeanour.
All French residents should have an insurance that covers everything from your dog causing an accident to your kids breaking a window whilst out playing. The cyclists had this insurance. However, since motors give way to pedals, the rules of the road are secondary to this basic tenet. The cyclists have a claim against my insurance for 2 destroyed bikes . Laughing truly is the only option here. Witnesses - check, driver innocent - check, my insurance still pays - errrr check...
For this reason I will probably let the insurance fix it anyway but don't want a crappy job from a body shop that isn't familiar with our precious vehicles  .

All adult cyclists should have INSURANCE like any other road going two wheeler!
Early in the summer one of my neighbours was hit by a cyclist, the cyclist going at about twenty five miles per hour on the pavement, knocked him down and caused several broken ribs, the cyclist just stopped said you OK mate and then cycled off. Neighbour was in a lot of pain and had to have time off work. NOW WHAT GETS MY GOAT is that many cyclists have helmet mounted cameras in case a motorist does something wrong but Oh no not them they get away with it. Mandatory insurance and some sort of point system to ban the cyclists who jump red lights and break every other higway code law. I think any pedestrian or car/van/truck/etc driver should be able to shoot any cyclist doing stupid/dangerous things or riding then all the cyclists would stay away from pavements and vehicles

Having been on the very painful receiving end of a motorist "doing stupid/dangerous things" whilst on a bike myself, this statement can apply both ways. |

be careful insurance doesn't not right it off do hop bikes are cheap |

The problem is, our roads (unlike most of Europe) aren't built for cyclists and personally i think roads are for cars - cyclists need to follow the rules, should have a good network of their own paths/roads, carry insurance and most importantly - not think they own the place.
