United Kingdom 2006 Defender 90 Td5 HT Java Black
email from Twisted today
I've not bought anything from Twisted but have asked questions etc through email so they must have my details on file, I received this today.... sad really...

Possibly the saddest and most exciting time for Twisted and the Land Rover Defender yet.

This Christmas, production at Solihull comes to an end. The final Defenders will roll off the production line and never again will the UK see a vehicle so versatile, simple, classic and iconic produced en masse. This comes at a time when the Defender has arguably never been more popular. After 15 years of Twisted tuning, honing and building unique Defenders for individual customers, there will soon be no more new ones for us to build from.

Of course, as the largest re-manufacturer of Defender, this has come as no surprise to Twisted. We all knew it was coming and the vehicles are already in short supply. But limited stock doesn't present too much of a problem for us; last year we built around 50 new vehicles, that’s all. We are not into piling high and selling cheap, we engineer every aspect of the model to iron out minor annoyances, tighten the feel and expand the appeal, while maintaining the integrity and ensuring every Twisted that leaves the factory is built to the highest standard.

For every new vehicle we build, we take around three customer vehicles into the factory for conversion and restoration, plus many more for a set of wheels or a little more power.

As 2015 draws to a close and 2016 dawns, the LR factory shuts its doors and we open ours wider. I’d like to keep in touch, to let you know what we’re up to in this quiet little corner of North Yorkshire - give you news on products we develop, vehicles we build, our ever expanding team and the events we attend.

If you would like to be part of Twisted going forward, just click this link. If Defender is not your thing, or Twisted holds no interest, then don’t worry we will simply take you off our list.

I hope you will join us entering into this new era and share some of the exciting things ahead.
Kind Regards

Charles Fawcett

I must admit, if I had that sort of money, I think I'd buy a Twisted over the LR Autobiography!

^^^ Yep, me too, I've always fancied a Twisted, I suppose they set the standard a while ago that others followed.
Maybe they'll do something similar with the Defender's replacement - what ever form that may take.
