I am confident it can be fitted to a Mantec wheel carrier or similar, it just needs adjustment via the washers for the depth.

In the middle of the three mounting studs at the rear of the plate is a welded 'box section' that bolts to the carrier pivot arm. You certainly would not be able to fit it to this type of carrier.

This will definitely not fit certain types of swing away wheel carrier due to the design of the wheel carrier head. If it is your stated intention to buy a swing away later get a chain in the interim.

Safari. It may well fit a Mantec I do not know? I didn't have any pictures at present but got one off of Google. The design on this particular carrier precludes the use of your neat solution.

The plate is also very thick in comparison to a standard rear wheel carrier. The only way I could add decent looking security was by picking up the two unused holes on the wheel and manufacturing a 3mm stainless steel plate to prevent access to the securing bolts and using a second 3mm stainless steel strap and tamper proof bolts and pinning the rear. Not foolproof but even with the correct tooling if I needed to use the spare the downside is it would take me about 20 minutes to get it off.

You don't need to be a genuis by any stretch for this.

It's only drilling 3 holes, even a monkey can do that!

The kit comes with a template that fits over the existing wheel carrier so you can drill the holes in the right place. Simples.

You'd be surprised at my ineptitude with a drill Wink
