I'm with mse on this, my money's on tax!
As with hire car companies (especially in the Channel Islands) they buy the cars tax free and to sell it on as a tax paid vehicle they have to operate/own it for a specified amount of time. When I was based in Germany I used to swap my vehicle every 6 months for the next model up free of charge or pocket £3k for the same spec vehicle. I would imagine that it will be rules very similar pertaining to tax implications perhaps? My 90 was ex-demonstrator which I bought off the dealer at over £6k below list price for new. Could be miles or time - that seems high for a demo. Mike

We can't release any demo vehicles until they reach 3 months of age. Standard practice in the motor trade I'm afraid. 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

Still waiting for Dealers to release vehicle they would not take my calls or reply to emails until I started on social media then hey presto a reply in ten minutes.
Unfortunately, still meeting a brick wall albeit somewhat higher. Beginning to loose patience with LR and the dealers but unfortunately they have the last word. Going to have fun with feedback etc. when the time comes. F.D. LR MY16 Discovery Sport Black HSE LR MY15 Defender 90 SW TDCI |

Word has it that after Nov 3 they will not be required to hold a Defender in the showroom... So I'd guess that'll be your collection day..

As the Defender is no longer a current model the dealer doesn't have to run a demonstrator or keep any in the showroom... The only other possible problem is if the dealer only registered the truck recently... I think there is still the possibility that they can't release it before the minimum time for tax purposes..
As the Defender wasn't really available after June 24th (Final order date) then it should now be available (July, Aug, Sept).. The only reason I have this info is that I was speaking with my Dealer about him displaying my new Bowler 90 as I'm leaving the country for 2 months... I spoke with the manager and he explained the above... Regards Tim It doesn't matter how bad it is, It can always get worse... 2013 Bowler 110 (Sold) 2016 Bowler 90 Rally Spec (Sold) |

When you get it, you will forget all about this.
Worth not confusing order dates, availability and in stock...just because all the build slots are gone and all cars built are sold, doesnt mean that they are all customer orders, some will be standard orders which dealers will sell by the time they are built or when in the compound. Thats why you are seeing people still being able to get a new defender now. Equally - you would think JLR wouldnt put a car in a film to advertise how cool it is etc, when they arent building it any more Mike |

Sadly my dealer has previously said otherwise. The car I'm waiting for was registered in July, so three months is done. The issue though is Land Rover won't allow them to be without a Defender, which quite frankly seems ridiculous given the state of things! |

He basically said that this is the decision Land Rover have made and that's that. Logic or reasoning seemed to make no difference to the company's decision. |

So what are the criteria JLR impose on the main dealers with regard to them having a demo fleet?
