Have been having an intermittant misfire on the 110 for a good few months now. Only within the first 5 or ten minutes after starting, a few stutters and coughs, engine light on then it all settles and runs fine.Checked and changed all the usuals, red ecu plug, injector harness etc. Because of the torque and good pulling power I've never really pushed the motor, always changing up pretty quickly and basically driving around in a high gear most of the time. And that I think where the problem was. Someone suggested injector cleaner but I was a bit dubious as to whether they do anything, well after pouring in two bottles of Wynns cleaner into half a tank of diesel and then ragging it for a few days the problem seems to be solved. It runs sweet as a nut now, a lot more life in it, no smoking and driving it harder hasn't made much difference to the fuel consumption. I've never liked driving any of my diesels hard but it seems that pussy footing about causes problems too. Thought this might be of use to anyone having similar problems.

I had an old MGF a while back with the K series lump in it, that loved being thrashed lol.
I'm thinking of dropping a de cat pipe on the 110 to possibly help the turbo spool up a bit quicker. |

Yeah, another vote for occasional fairly high (really don't need to rev the t!ts off it) rev driving, also Forte diesel treatments are very popular for fixes and Millers additives for preventative maintenance.Quality diesel also works but that's for another thread
![]() Also diesel has always been very susceptible to bacteria which causes running issues, again there are proven additives for that anorl. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5. |
