Hi
The problem is ch 9 is the emergency call channel but everyone listens on 19 so you can call all you like no one will here. Mayday and pan are marine calls, although most people will understand mayday but not pan pan. Graham |

There appears to be some docs on the net...here's a Wiki https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voice_procedure
If the sh!t really hits the fan, then forget CB and dial 999.... Cheers Simon |

Is there much general chit-chat on the CB when you're out and about? I was going to get one (mostly because I want to put an aerial at the back so the car looks like a giant remote-control car ) so hopefully there's something to listen to.

Yeh, pan pan would, if you got anyone at all, not get you a sensible answer.
Ch19 with a mayday might and if you had no mobile (aka cell) phone signal then this would be worth trying simply because it might actually work. In all seriousness, if you can't speak for any reason, and you have coverage and web access there is always social media. I don't recommend it but there are people alive today because they got a message to friends back in their own country who alerted emergency services and were saved via social media.
