No offence taken. The issue occurs rarely, on long steep hills. I think the issue is the weight in the truck ( which I'm addressing), engine braking is what is helping me slow down enough that the brakes don't fully fade to nothing. The issue isn't a major problem, just something I'd like to address on my "ToDo" list. I've seen a kit to upgrade to vented disks here. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331602367789?clk...noapp=true If I do this I'll also change the fluid and put braided hoses on. Cheers Simon |

It seams google is mans best friend ..............copy paste copy paste copy paste
![]() First port of call is check all your brake lines for any corrosion brake fluid will absorb water though porous metal & also said rubber flexi pipes (usually cracked) very obvious to see if you bend them!!! you can test the moisture content of your fluid with a simple tester for under a tenner, or go down to your local fast fit kwik-fit/Ats ect & get a free test ![]() 5k they will prob be glazed due to overheating, the more heat you can dissipate quickly from the braking surfaces the better, upgrading your discs & pads will make a massive difference dimpled/grooved/drilled getting rid of hot gases quicker than a flat surface these also help with cooling also invest in ceramic pads. Changing to braided hoses is a great upgrade & dot 5.1 fluid (as already said) you can use dot 5 if flushed properly ( I have it in my Rs) as well as titanium plates between the pads & calipers, these take the heat from the calipers in turn keeping the temp away from the fluid never seen them for a defender but a set could be manufactured from a pad template. Back soon got to go ![]() |
