Now, all red-blooded males like a bit of carbon, so I am posting off topic in the hope of finding someone who has some experience of carbon from a more technical point of view.
I have a bike frame that is now 15 years old, but considered a bit of a classic and which I like very much and want to keep. However it's looking a little tired so I want to repaint it but was wondering if/how you can strip paint off carbon fibre without damaging it. As such, does anyone know if this is possible and if so who/where I might have it professionally done. Many thanks  Monsieur Le Grenadier

Get a pro to do it. I;ve had a few customers with parts that needed either repainitn gor they jus wanted painting in the first place.
The risk, and potential write-off, of trying DIY is not worth the savings. Old bike, you obviously like it and it fits you well - worth writing off for the sake of a ton or two? Si - www.mobyek.co.uk TY&GN 10 years in a WOLF, WIMIK and Snatch and this is all I have to show! |

I worked at Brian Rourkes for many years and carbon bikes were hand sanded before painting.
As it's so old, just check for signs of wear/damage. What frame is it? (Thinking OCLV Trek). |
