Thank you for posting.

There are 2 types - one for Boots/Dual Alloy and one for Sawtooth - one needs to specify when ordering.

Seller was unsure whether it will fit the steel variants.

Will report back once received and fitted.

I doubt that it would fit any of the steel wheels since the hole in the middle of a steel wheel is much bigger.

I don't see why the same locking principle shouldn't be adopted though.

That's what I call a tasty discreet update with a purpose. Thumbs Up
Would the entire item, including screws, bolts, and the lock be rustproof? It is very exposed to the elements of course, and you don't want to face the situation where you can't turn the key anymore due to a rusty lock mechanism.
I think the looks are perfect, so when I come home again end this week, I will check if it would be possible to fit on my Aussie Kaymar wheel carrier.
Eric

P.S. There is some conflicting info in the posts. OP says that the version for Sawtooth also fits the Dual Tone wheel.
Then Sadi says that there is one for Boosts/Dual Tone and another one for Sawtooths.
?????? You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Hi Eric,

The seller acknowledged there to be a different sized washer for the 2 mentioned wheels.

My vehicle will have steel rims - but I received a complete Boost wheel as a gift from a friend.

I will thus replace the steelie spare (store it in a cool dry place) and hide the difference beneath a Defender specific cover.

Are these still available anywhere? The original seller does not appear to be contactable anymore. I would want one to fit a Dual Alloy wheel on my Puma 110 USW. Alternatively are there any other similar products on the market?? Bow down Discovery 4 HSE

Sent a message to maker/seller of these on Ebay. Got a response today: "due to illness he has stopped making them for a while but intends starting again when feeling better" so if interested keep watching Ebay. Discovery 4 HSE

I had to renew a locking nut on one of my wheels and was surprised as to how few combinations of lock nuts there are. The actual letter is stamped on the nut so all the scrotes have to do is have a selection and nick my spare.
SO
Here is a spare wheel lock I just made using an SAS caravan corner steady lock, an M36 steel washer and some screwed rod. The yellow one is a prototype which shows up clearly and the black one with yellow ring is the finished article. Pretty much as the one on the first post.

SAS lock £21 M36 washer 50p screwed rod nuts and washers approx £2.5 Welding one rod. total materials inc paint and lacquer £26.

I have one of those too, looks good and not only secures the spare but shows you take security seriously so might put someone off having a go at your Defender other than nicking the spare.

Hi

To answer an earlier question this kit can be modified to work with a steel wheel.
Instead of mounting the main part to the outside of the wheel carrier, I cut a hole and fitted from the inside, spaced out to suit the wheel thickness.

I then cut a disk (as best I could) from a sheet of alloy with neoprene stuck to the back to prevent scratching and allows a little give when installing the padlock.

I hope that this helps someone.

Cheers

Mark

Looks good Mark. What are the shiny dots around the edge of the wheel rim?

Hi Kmac

The silver dots around the wheel are unpainted rivets, not sure if they are practical or just decorative.

Cheers
