Check the wiper arm is secure on the spindle first, it may simply need tightening up.
On a Puma, it is technically a dash-out job, but you don't have to remove it completely, just free it off and pull it towards the rear of the vehicle. |

thanks for replies the wiper is nut is tight but the arm is slipping on worn splines was thinking of trying clean up shaft and try new arm ?? thoughts 08 def 90 ht stornaway grey

IIRC nowadays the shaft is splined but the boss of the arm isn't, and it is the tightening of the nut which impresses the splines into the boss.
I'd suggest removing the arm and checking/cleaning the shaft and arm to try to identify the problem. If you're lucky it may be the arm not the spindle which needs replacing. You might be able to effect an interim fix with a dab of Loctite. |
