During the sunmer there are regular evening gatherings at Poole Quay, Dorset of various makes and models of cars, they all park on the quay and people mill around and admire , eat fish and chips etc and its a pleasent evening for the whole family
I emailed Poole Tourism dept about having a defender or Landrover event to celebrate the passing of the iconic car. Unfortunately all evenings have been allocated and road closures secured so nothing can be done this year. I had a lovely email back saying that the council were unaware of the Defenders demise and they will give serious consideration to holding one next year even if it means at the expense of a current marque , So all those in Dorset keep you eyes open and perhaps we will see a quay for you car Defender night! Hi All
Below is a copy of an email I have received today from the organiser for Pooles Quay for My Car event next year Can we all spread the word and get to make this happen Good afternoon Greg I am just looking at Quay for my car next year and remembered your enquiry in respect of a Landrover defender evening; bearing in mind they are ceasing production. I think it is now the time for one marque to be dropped next year, thereby allowing a new marque entry to the event. Do you think there would be enough interest from Defender owners? Do you have any contacts yourself as I have none at all. We would need around 60 or so vehicles to justify the closure and when introducing a new marque, as always, we seek help from enthusiasts, club secretaries and whatever, as I think that local publicity would not give us the level of response we require. I have not earmarked a date yet, as I usually use this opportunity to find the "best fit date" for other marques too if I need to swap them around. I am in the process of compiling a list Look forward to receiving your thoughts Think we could do it chaps and chappess? |

I've passed on a few contacts to the organiser, including SAD and Dirset Landrover club , she has some contacts from when they had a 4x4 night , also suggested maybe around same time as Simply Landrovers at Beaulieu so for those that may travel it might make it more of a weekend of it!

As BPman stated they had a 4x4 themed night a couple of years ago Rustyboxx and myself were in attendance and there were Defenders abound. I do not think numbers will be an issue.
