Saga continues, I have fitted a new injector loom and checked earths etc. Started Landy thought everything great, it ran ok for 30 secs then one misfire, then another, then the engine got really lumpy and started revving between stutters.
Now with the engine off and ignition on the fuel system just keeps turning on and off with the relays under the seat clicking. Pull the main relay out and it all stops, pull the fuel system relay out and the main relay still clicks. I have checked inertia switch that is ok and fitted new fuel filter. Any suggestions greatly accepted. |

Unfortunately it sounds like it is starting to use it's own oil, or being over fuelled. This could be for two reasons:
1 A leak in the injector seals 2 A cracked head Check the oil level and see if it smells of Diesel, if it is the head that is causing issues it can also overheat causing the exhaust manifold to warp and leak, this also causes strange faults due to exhaust gas being emitted onto such things as the temperature sensor. You can check this by taking off the engine cover and the manifold shield any leaks should show up as blackening. All that being said, it's not the end of the world and more than one of us has been there. Jason. |

Thanks for the reply, but would that still make the fuel system turn itself on and off with the engine not running.

It could do if the ignition is still on the fuel system is a high pressure one so when you start it the fuel pump will prime the system if there is a leak then the system will constantly try and get up to pressure which could account for the relay clicking on and off as if there is only a small leak the system would be able to get to full pressure and shut off before loosing pressure and cycling as you describe.
As I have not seen or heard your truck I am only going by your fault description and unfortunately personal experience. Jason. |

Run a nice thick earth from the neg on the battery to the group of earths in the bottom of the ECU compartment
