Fitting inward facing rear seats to my Td5 County HT
Good morning folks,

I'm hoping to fit four inward facing tip up seats in the rear of my Td5 90 soon and I want to make sure that I fit them correctly and without missing anything important! Does anyone know the whereabouts of a diagram or parts list for the installation of said seats? Any tips?!

Thanks in advance!

I had 2 fitted a couple of months ago. Will send pics when i get back to base next week (Sons wedding in SPore this week). The fitting is just structural steel issues, are seats and belts anchored to you and your insurance companies satisfaction. Dept of transport may want pics and cert. of installation.
Calcs are not required as far as I know. Just make sure that 100kg decelerating from 30 to zero in short order does not overload any steel bracing you add under the seat Confused Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz
Brought the 90 home from Switzerland ...

From an old thread.....Fitting into an HT? Shocked

Below is from another thread, more insurance companies are shying away from insuring Defenders with side facing seats anyway so retrofitting forward facing ones if carried out correctly may not be such a bad idea perhaps? Read into it what you will.

Thanks very much, I will be using the full genuine installation kit of parts as would have been fitted to a factory SW, so I should be OK as long as the MOT guys are happy!

Thanks, but my insurance company are totally fine with it and have told me that the annual premium will remain the same. Inward facing seats is the reason I chose a Td5 over a brand new defender.

Thanks very much, a great summation of the true situation.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I have no concerns re the legality or the media hype re insurance.

Can anyone offer any tips re actual installation of the genuine kit?

Thanks again

With the full kit from the CSW the position will be set for you.

If you bolt the brackets that tie the seat belt bars into the rear crossmember to the cross member - it will define the holes in the floor for the bars.

Then you can drill all the holes for those bars and fit the seats belts and the spreader plates.

Once that's done the seats fit inbetween the seatbelt mounting points.

So as long as you do it in the right sequence, and you have the full set off parts, it will all become clear.

Hello 1978

Here you go...

Exmoor Trim XS Fold Ups (Fitting Instructions and Seat Review)...(My Seats)
http://funrover.com/reviews/exmoor-trim-xs-fold-up-seat-review/

Basic Exmoor Trim Fold Ups (Fitting Instructions)
http://www.exmoortrim.co.uk/fitting_guides/EXT050.pdf

Whilst I didn't fit mine originally I have had them all out and back in again
(sound deadening) the technique is really straight forward....and probably
most retro fit products come with fitting instructions included.

I take it that by 'Genuine Kit' you are going for the OEM Land Rover Seats not a 3rd Party... Question

Good Luck. SKIP

Thank you very much, this is a relief as I haven't been able to find any installation guides online whatsoever!

Thank you very much for your help, yes, I am going to buy a second hand set of OEM Land Rover seats with all of the associated fittings. Thanks again!
