Hello
I like the Urban Truck DRL round gloss bumper for my truck, don't like the price. Now a new bumper with caps I can get for £80 ish these DRL's £25 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181436361867?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT and then a spray over in gloss.... Are these bumpers easy enough to drill? with these type bits? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/16-60mm-9341-HSS...1810826965 It would be half the price easily? and I could have some spare lights in case they break / fail Does this wound easy enough to do? |

It would be all about the measuring and cutting the whole in the centre.
I would measure measure and measure again. Use a centre punch before putting a drill anywhere near it. Use lots of cutting paste and go really slow with the drill. Deburr the hole. Clean all the grease off with brake cleaner paint and install your lights. I bought one that was already done. |

I cut mine using a hole saw, it went OK had to file the internal edge down. I then put some edging trim on, it looks quite good, I will dig a picture out and post.

The Premium Recess Model from UT does indeed appear quite costly at nearly £500.
The OEM bumpers are made out of not much more than Bacofoil. I would think that drilling such a large hole may compromise what little structural integrity it had in the first place? First Four are a company that provide good quality HD bumpers with and without DRLs at reasonable cost. Maybe worth a look perhaps? I bought one from them albeit without DRLs and it has stood the test of time extremely well. You could consider buying a HD one drilling it, having it repainted/recoated in the colour of your choice, fitting the lights and still save a packet against the above cost? http://www.firstfour.co.uk/products/non-wi...ty-bumpers If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

May be worth contacting LRI Solutions who are on this site.
They did me an Urban Truck Satin Quad DRL Bumper for £310 including delivery which was about 20% less than Urban Truck themselves. I'm not sure of their price on the twin DRL bumper but I would have thought the discount would be similar www.lrisolutions.co.uk 2015 Defender 90XS HT |

Some good ideas
It sounds an awful lot when a bumper can be had for £80 ish that's all... The lighting kit is not very expensive either. I guess your paying as its done... But then I would still need it fitting or is it easy to wire in? Thanks |

Simple way to do it, get a local machine shop to drill the holes that is what I did and it cost me £20.00. Holes were perfectly round, no rough edges and accurate and no chipping round the edges. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

I took a fused feed off the alternator to the nc contact tips of a 12 volt relay whose coil was actived when side or full beam was requested
