My First Defender 110 after a 'normal' car
OK so I've took a leap of faith after many years with 'normal' family cars (Generally Merc's) I fancied something different.

The Defender is just that... Love the way they look and the fact you can do so much to them to make them your own.

So I went today to swap this...

Prior to collecting the garage already fitted some of the modifications I like.

Alloys x 5
rear step
towbar
sprayed bumper gloss black.

So far I've only been around 20 miles and in that time when parked I've had someone come up to me and ask me all about it. I've also have young lads in hatchbacks and other dads like me in 'normal' cars just stare at it.

So thumbs up so far Smile

Even the boss turned to me and said does it need a snorkel...

Smile

Great stuff

Congratulations on making the switch...
I assume you meant you swapped the Merc and not the plane for your new truck... Rolling Eyes

Very nice looking motor Stacey, may you have very many years and miles of enjoyment together... Thumbs Up

I would have stuck with the Hercules C130K Mk3. A very reliable workhorse, if not just a tad more uneconomical than the Defender. Cool

May I ask where the photo was taken please? Worked on the 'Fat Alberts' for many years. Thumbs Up

Lovely truck too! Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

She's a beauty.

Better fuel consumption than a Hercules too! There's not many vehicles you can say that about. Rolling with laughter

Given you have had to hand back the C130 (even with the ride-height, skydiving will now be very difficult from the 110) but have at least chosen a 'stealth black' version for your new Defender, may I suggest fitting one of these just as a nod to the C130 Spectre? It will provide some 'context' to the Bond music....

No doubt someone on the forum will suggest how you might fashion a remotely controlled mounting for it from a spare shopping trolley, parts from a ZX Spectrum and some double-sided sticky tape... Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

I would love that ^

Imagine the fun I could have with Sunday drivers.... I already feel as though I could drive over them Smile

I'm sure I've some spare computer parts and maybe even an old Atari joystick Smile

They are simply extraordinary, but only 20mm so as nothing to this, as used on the A-10 Warthog:

But the 20mm Vulcan will be more manageable in the 110, as the Avenger weighs approx 2t and is so powerful you'd knock the 110 over. You can see why when you see the Avenger's round next to a stock rifle round:

Amazing to watch an A-10 fire one of these things, (and yes, it does sound like a fart...brrrp, brrrp Laughing ) but it would be handy if the pilots that I witnessed could actually hit their targets, which neither could despite a handful of attempts. Whistle

So for now, stick with the Vulcan and mow down those Sunday drivers Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier
