How long does the noise last for, a fraction of a second or longer?
Two initial guesses, the turbo dump valve venting off any boost when you lift off the throttle or squeeky brakes. |

Hi Andy,
It's only a fraction of a second and I'm pretty sure it's not the brakes unless I have a leak with the servo. The dump valve on the turbo sounds more likely- where about is it located and how is it supposed to function? It's not something I had before over the four years I've had he truck. Mark |

No dump valve on the TDCi - when fitted it is to petrol turbocharged engines to reduce overboost / compressor stall when the throttle is closed. (Diesel engines do not use a throttle valve for controlling engine speed)
The noise you are hearing could be one of several things, EGR valve starting to die, Air leak in the inlet system - check the hoses and jubilee clips. |
