2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SVX Station Wagon Santorini Black
British Car Show Morges, Switzerland
Bit of a splash and dash, over the weekend, drove to Switzerland to meet up with Ericvv and attend the British Car Show in Morges on lake Geneva.

My defender has only been out a couple of times this year (busy at work and other toys), but the show this year was celebrating Land Rover and MG, so 3 of us decided to attend.

We were welcomed by the organisers at this free event. There were 1000's of British cars from Bristol, MG, Land Rover, Austin, Morris, Ford Escort RS'; MGA, MGB, Truimph .. all sorts.

This was my first long journey with the LSDs fitted, Entreq intercooler hoses so was a bit of a test of my mechanical skills - all good.
The trip from France to CH was a pleasure with the recaro seats, cruise control and the "doofer" to open the toll barriers (bill in post), the French motorways are pretty quiet at 7am on a Friday

Here is our line up .. Defender SVX 60th 2.4 TDCI, Defender 50th Heritage TD5 and my Ice LE 2.4 TDCI.

Was a great weekend altogether, also because we made some new friends. Thumbs Up
Interesting that this years Morges British Classics Car Show was for British cars of minimum 20 years of age or older, but that when we initially arrived as visitors, and then went to ask the officials at the entrance if three well groomed Defenders of respectively 16, 7 and 6 years of age would be allowed onto the showgrounds itself, they heartily welcomed us to go get our trucks from the visitor parking lots, roll them in and line them up on the grounds. Best indication that with the end of Defender production imminent, that we are already considered to be part of the classics community. Also, our Defender line-up attracted more than average visitor interest. Laughing
This was the first time the Mrs. and I visited this annual event in Morges, but it won't be the last, probably this is going to become a fix on our agenda from now on. A great venue, as bpman said a few thousand British Classics, and they came in big numbers from the furthest away European countries.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Only sorry I could not join, but was happy to see you all on Friday night and share the apero, the great wine served by Eric and get a picture with the above mentioned plus the Hunter. Speaking of the Hunter, she was out this weekend and the hunt was also a good time had by all.

^^ Thumbs Up

I already tried to look up the exact October date for the 2016 Morges Classic British Car Show show (will be the 25th edition then), but google give no results yet. Guess will again be early October though.
Also the organization website does not give the 2016 dates yet. http://www.british-cars.ch/index_a.html

Anyway, the good news is that there will be a 25th edition, our Defenders will again be a year older by then, they will have solidly moved into the category of real historic vehicles as not produced anymore, so we should be welcomed like we were this year.

Just a bit too early now to already start planning the raclette for then. Whistle

BPMAN- was impressed to see all the mods on your ICE, discreet and functional. Same goes for your mods Yobbie - loved the security on the spare wheel Thumbs Up . The problem a Defender owner has, when looking at other Defenders prepared with function in mind, is an increased potential for poverty as the list of mods becomes longer Very Happy

Once we know the Classic Car in Morges weekend dates, I will ask that the opening hunt be organised either before or after this weekend. Would love to join you all

Don't think the garage with the car wash were impressed with my spare wheel security when it broke the machine.
