Hi all
going to view this on monday, its the lad who owns the local body shop's truck from what i know so far is; it has a 200tdi disco with box and axles, it has been t boned no the passengers side, damaging the front wing, drivers door and bulkhead. he does have the panels to put it right but I'm not really fussed.... would just like a rough price to start negotiations at? It looks a fun and capable vehicle in the pictures. I wouldn't even know where to begin to give it a value? Was it roadworthy with an MOT? What is it's history, mileage, engine, gearbox? Is it electrically sound? Has it had any restoration work? Apart from the T-boning is the chassis and other panels sound? Why does he not want to repair it or will he repair it prior to purchase?
Pitch him an offer of what you yourself are prepared to pay taking into consideration my points above. Sorry I cannot be more precise but the information provided is too scant on detail. i basically want it just to tear around in and have fun in, its road worthy but hasn't moved in a while, the owner actually owns a auto body shop but is just too busy to get around to it.. other than that its pretty straight when he built it he did all the pannels and the chassis.

Has he given you any clue as to what he wants for it? Both of you must have a ballpark idea what it's worth to him and what you are prepared to pay? Hopefully the two figures are not poles-apart? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Tell him it's a nice one and offer him £1000. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I can't see it being worth very much as it won't be road legal with the tyres stuck out like that. Heavily modified series trucks tend not to make strong money in general, and are often difficult to sell on. The market at the moment is for very original, unmolested vehicles - so don't go crazy! You will need some wheelarch spats if you plan to keep that wheel and axle set up. 2011 110 USW

I've done some more negotiating with him, basically I'm thinking on leaving it in the lakes to stop putting miles on my current 90... I've done about 21000 miles in the last 3 years but would like to keep it lower.
a sweetener was it comes with 2 new genuine wings that have been in storage for a VERY long time, also has a few other nice genuine parts to come with it. I'm valuing the truck at about 2000-2500 in the deal, it does need some work done but the galv chassis, disco axles, engine etc probably warrant the price, hopefully pick it up at the weekend.. this will be the 10th land rover in the current stable... |
