United Kingdom 2005 Defender 90 Td5 XS CSW Tonga Green
New 110 - Firenze Red
Having had the 05 TD5 90 for a year now, we decided to trade our Discovery 4 for a 110 as the main family lugger. Had been looking for a Keswick Green one for a while but no joy getting the spec/low mileage I was after but saw an advert for a Firenze red one with white roof, HD wheels and matt black arches and thought that looked pretty good. Didn't buy that one as it had a few extras I didn't want.

Whilst I was looking myself, one of my Scout's dads has an independent LR garage and was looking too. He came across a MY12 Firenze Red County in his network with 7,000 miles on it. It needed the roof painting white, the alloys changing (he had a set of new take-off wheels), air-con fitting (that came out of car where a customer didn't want it), the grey grill changing to black and black spats fitting, all of which he did as part of a great deal. So here she is....

Had her a few days and had do a quick motorway blast to deal with some family stuff and am overall chuffed

Love the look. He has fitted unpainted spats which I assumed would be matt but allegedly LR don't do matt any more. TBH the gloss ones are growing on me.

Love the fact I can hear the radio at motorway speeds (Not possible in the TD5) without your ears bleeding!!)

On the down side, she seems a little "difficult" to drive compared with the TD5. Got to be really careful changing gear getting the revs right or she's clunky and jumpy. Maybe its just me getting used to her. And seems like the engine is holding the revs when changing up thorough the box accelerating onto the motorway. Like I say, only been a couple of days mainly shooting up and down motorways. Will see how I settle in or get her looked at

Only other downside is the gear stick fouls my coffee in the cubby cupholder when in 6th....

Jobs on the list: Better stereo, speakers and subwoofer, second battery install with USB ports front and rear, dog guard, remove seats 6&7 - look at a longline drawer to hide the crapola, glove box. That's a good start.

Lovely truck. Got to love a proper red Landy. Stands in the countryside like a post box or an old style telephone box, bright, but somehow it just belongs.

Love it, but then I have a slight bias, although a different red. I have a ninety due shortly & am very concerned about the gear lever fouling the coffee cup when in 6th. Big Cry

Both front doors, top most bolt of the upper hinge

Any ideas? Bodged in bolt of for something specific.

Yes. You can tell that by looking at some spurious bolts... Laughing

Looks like they are being used as door-stops. You can see how they're eating a hole in the wing mirror mount.

I think it's to foil the door/bonnet thieves. They turn up with the correct torq bit, but then find they don't have the Whitworth size spanner they need. Cool
