How to connect to Central Junction Box (Puma)

Hello,

I have various orange wires from additional gauges, etc. that I need to connect to a "switched live" distributor. As I understand it, the Central Junction Box has a few free slots for this and is switched live.

However, do I need to remove the whole dash, steering wheel, etc to get to the back of the CJB - or is there a 'trick' to connect wires to the rear the fuse box??

It appears that the individual fuse-holder bars can maybe taken out without dismantling half of the cockpit to get there??

Any hints how to do this??

I just don't want to take off the whole dashboard, steering, etc. - just to attach 2-3 wires to a fuse block.

If there is no easy way I will rather install a new live fuse block under the seat and go from there. However, the CJB under the steering wheel would be soooo elegant a solution.

If you can't come up with a way of connecting to the back, the slightly less elegant way is to put a spade terminal in one of the fuse slots.

If this is a spade terminal, I have seen it already in a previous thread. However, it seems to stick out too much, so that the lid over the CJB won't fit anymore.

Just had a look at the fuse-holding frames again and they seem to come out if one dis-engages the small clip on the bottom and and then presses the whole block of fuses into the CJB frame (to the back).
However, I am not sure if I then can wiggle it back in again and am a bit hesitant to do this. Can't see also if the cables are long enough to pull the block out through the side of the CJB.

Why didn't LR build it in a way that one can take out the whole CJB more easily since the empty fuse slots are there as an invitation to be used?

Anyways, if there isn't a simple solution I might buy a spade terminal and modify it or build my own. Seems the easiest way to go.

I am using a terminal like the one Martin pictured and the lid closes without any problem

Kmac, ok, great! Just ordered 3 of those and will then most likely go this route.Not 100% elegant but still a professional solution it seems.

What is a VSR?? Tried to Google it but didn't find such a thing/term.

Voltage sensitive relay.

This sort of thing:

Used to keep a caravan battery topped up, can be used for many other things. Usually adjustable so could be used to turn a two way radio off if the battery voltage drops too low for instance.

So, yes - I did connect the EGT Gauge via a spade terminal. I used the slot of the side window fuse for it. However, while it generally works great, something strange happens; when I use the side window switch immediately after starting the car, then the Gauge will show the malfunction LED light up and it won't work until I turn off the engine again and start it anew.

There are of course 2-3 free slots in the Central Junction Box as well, but thy have no wiring in the back and thus I would need to again remove the whole dashboard to get to the CJB.
