What happens at 20mph?
Hi,

**2.2 2015 Puma**

I am struggling to find out what the strange noise I hear at 20mph is?

It only ever happens on the initial time 20mph is reached.

The noise goes "dunk dunk dunk dunk click" its very quiet but it sounds like it coming from the the front drivers side somewhere?

I would say the frequency ties in with the speed of the wheel.

Not sure if its coming form down near the wheel or up where the brake gubbins are.

I tried DSC off and the noise is still there, I will try disabling ABS and see that has any effect.

Scanned with diognostics and no faults.

I can gaurantee that if it goes to the dealer the will be "unable to replicate the problem"

Any ideas?

Cheers

Y

The click is when the illegal immigrant falls off.

Barry, you obviously didn't get the memo; they are now called refugees. Please do try to remember.

I get a similar sound from stones stuck in the treads.

Last time I got this it was someone's Allen key that leaked air on removal.
How hard is it to put tools back? Cheers,
Kyle.

It's fine, you can leave that one alone. It will do it once every time you key on, and only when you break approx 18mph. It's the ESP self test. It runs the ESP/ABS pump (depending on what you have), just to check its a) functional, and b) to stop it from failing through lack of use. Otherwise most pumps would never run through the life of the vehicle. Every car with ESP/ABS will do it, whether you can hear it do it or not is another matter....

So if you see a Puma owner with his head out of the window, driving very slowly, give him a wide berth. It's just one of us listening for the noise we never noticed before ... Whistle That's not a dent, it's a rivet. That's not a dent, it's a rivet. That's not ... oh! That is a dent!
