It would be satin, my choice anyway.
I've never painted the chassis only Dinitrol protected but many for chassis paint swear by POR 15.

Thats good stuff, I used it on my 80" axels and drum backplates. but its brush on and im a bit.. drippy with my painting. Plus it needs the uv stable topcoat.. drip drip drip.

I need a spray, thats where i found the eastwood stuff from frosts 1953 80"

I used satin black Rustoleum over the whole chassis including the rear x-member,use a gloss roller and thin the paint down and you get a really good looking and super tough finish. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

Primer on the rear cross member? Shocked That can not be from new, as they have barely seen a wiff of black dull paint on assembly. Laughing
My rear cross member on the outside got a coat of satin black years ago, and that looks as close to standard as possible. Thumbs Up
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
