Perhaps a silly question but, can you nor just bond the chequer plate to the body instead of drilling holes and riveting/bolting????

Does anyone know if the LR supplied chequer plate comes with any kind of material to go between the wing tops and the plating? I can imagine that it might get a bit noisy/rattly depending on how the chequerplate is attached, no?

which colour would you put on Stornaway Grey wing tops - Anodised or Black?

I have black on my stornoway grey truck. looks good. dont get the thin ones, they warp. mine came from paddock, 3mm. used rivnuts, cushined undernearth the plate with 1mm neoprene cut to just under the size of the plate

Yes they do. Similar / the same can be had from other places including http://mammouth4x4.co.uk/.

There is quite a bit about the various manufacturers on the forum already. Steve.

Does that mean if I remove my chequer plate, then ladies won't wear their undies? If so, I think I know what I am doing on my lunch break Whistle 2008 Defender 110 60 year Edition (sold unfortunately)

I went for genuine LR silver on my Stornoway Grey 110 (My main reason was that I thought black might scratch which would defeat the object?!?!??)

PS Chequer plate seems to attract damage by people that think the car is totally scratch proof everywhere because of the plating on the wing tops and sills!!!!! Simon S

Thought of this using 3M 5200 sealant/adhesive but reckon it would simply lift the paint off!

For those that have fitted the 3mm Mammouth using the supplied bolts and nylocs: How much work was it to get the inner wings out of the way?

Am I just best to go with Rivnuts?

Thanks Keith

I went back and forth about fitting, don't particularly like it but as I had a roof tent at the time felt it was necessary.

Fitted 3mm with SS bolts and Nylocs. Fairly straight forward - took about 2 hours in total for both wings and bonnet. Make sure you have a step drill which will hep if drilling through bonnet strengthening braces.

Been on car for the past 8 years and no sign of corrosion on chequer plate or wings.
