I have Bosch, Makita and Dewalt. (circular saw, driller, screwdriver, jigsaw among others).
All are pretty good. I tend to prefer Makita but is just a personal choice. Cheers Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |

Desalt for me as I use them everyday. The brushless drills don't get as hot after prolonged use.id go for 4 or 5 amp/h batts and don't bother with the smaller ah ones.

Ellisboy - Yeah, I have 3x 5AH.
Just swap and charge in sequence by smart charger. Think there is a 6AH now too, usage time depends on the tool though. Replicating saw / sabre saw is my most useful tool I've acquired lately. I need to sell my green Bosch corded hammer drill and jigsaw soon as I don't use them now even though they are still good tools. To be honest I have never known of a breakdown and I'm a regular user. Bosch is German in origin, what are the others? |

I have a cordless drill, angle grinder and a corded drill all by Makita and can't fault any of them. They have worked faultlessly for countless jobs and I will continue to buy Makita kit.
I have always got them from screwfix as they always seem to have a good price and they provide good after sales service too. |

Dewalt have gone down hill since they were taken over by black and decker...thats why you get a lot of budget deals ....eventually they will be b&decker rebranded as dewalt..... |

Although I use Screwfix. (Today in fact!) and they are very good I have found them not so good on prices.
As I said brilliant company for other stuff though, especially fixings. I use Buy a Parcel, they got lots of manufacturers available and I found a few months ago the best prices around on the whole. Also deliver next day every time. What ever manufacturer you look at I'd definitely recommend them, even got storage boxes and chargers etc too. |

Another vote for Hitachi here, had mine for 18 months and lots of use, plus 3 year warranty

As has been said De Wilt have gone down hill recently as have Millsucky basically they are being made by accountants and it shows. Bosch are good as a high quality diy tool of which I have various corded ones all of which are subject to heavy abuse and seem to cope well. For money no object then Hilti win but it is a debatable benefit outside of industrial use. Which leaves Makita and Hitachi neither are cheap cheap but both are excellent. Personally I prefer blue to green but that's just me, either way pick one and be loyal as once you've got a charger and a couple or three batteries the actual tools bare are not too painful to collect as the need arises. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I've recently bought a pack of drill and impact driver by dewalt. I had a 6 year old Dewat combi drill with 2x 2Ah batteries, it'd had lots of use and did me proud but was getting a bit worn out.
I can't fault the new pack, much smaller and compact than the old one plus lots lighter, but most of all - get a pack with an impact driver, now I've got one it makes life easier. Go for an 18v with 4 Ah batteries, they last for ever before needing recharge, I did look at brushless as they are the new 'must have' but not worth the extra in my case, I only use stuff for home use. I got mine from an eBay seller that sells only Dewalt tools that have been demo'd, tested, returned or for some reason they can't sell it as new, sometimes just a scratch. Mine came next day and tbh I can't see anything at all - it looks brand new, but it was over £100 less than anyone else, here's a link to his eBay shop if your interested.... http://stores.ebay.co.uk/ITS-Tools/DeWalt-...34.c0.m322 |

Makita for me
keeps it simple having the same brand, so you keep a few batteries & can buy tools as the 'Body only' |

I stick to Bosch Professional stuff ...
Absolutely fabulous though not cheap in comparison. But the build makes up for them. When I was deciding on which battery format to follow it was between Makita, Milwaukee and Bosch. Milwaukee tools are slightly more powerful generally than Bosch, and both above Makita, however Milwaukee were having battery explosion problems (and random failures) which I think they may have now finally sussed out. Milwaukee also make one of the strongest battery impacts to. Used to be Bosch, then Milwaukee, now Ingersol (but they dont have much body choice using their batteries). Either way Bosch have the best batteries in my opinion, they are some of the stronger bodies out there, but build quality (for the professional stuff at least) is a notch above them all. Dewalt in my opinion used to be good kit in the woodworking world years ago, but no longer. They lost their way when they built things down to a price to increase profit margins. |

This is the one I have, best combi I've ever used and only been using since Christmas.
Although I have 3x 5AH batteries not 4AH. There are now 6AH too I think. http://www.buyaparcel.com/p/bosch-cordless...nd-l-boxx/ |
